I’m not totally convinced of the validity of the claims in this article on Digital Spy. but in the spirit of full disclosure and fairness to all, I’m reporting it and will let each of you decide what you think. Here’s what it says:
David Boreanaz has admitted that he often struggles to get along with his Bones co-star Emily Deschanel.
The actor, who plays F.B.I. Special Agent Seeley Booth on the crime drama, revealed that Emily (Temperance Brennan) is sometimes too outspoken for his liking.
“We drive each other crazy and tell each other so. There are days when we show up and don’t get on too well, but we use it in the scenes,” Boreanaz told Metro.
Asked why they sometimes annoy each other, David explained: “I’m constantly poking her shoulder and getting under her skin. I think it’s part of my job. She’s very opinionated. I could be talking to a director or producer and she’ll put her two cents in. It’s annoying and I’ve told her about it, but she keeps on doing it.”

I am sorry, but if you’re not convinced you should have titled this differently.
Anyone who listened to DB’s radio interview, seen his TV appearances (just to keep it confined at that week, in UK) knows that the opposite is very much the case. Here’s a humorless interviewer who wants to pay back because his Angel questions were not considered and injects his perception with the acrimony he feels. Starting with “Grumpy Dave”

I find this highly unlikely. Has anyone watched behind the scenes of these two, or watched the commentary on the season 1 dvd? It’s obvious they get along great. And both of them have commented on how they love to joke around on set, David always trying to kiss Emily. Seems to me they get along just fine.

i don’t think that this article is right, in fact i think this is the unique time in 3 years that I read about it. No, no no.

I don’t believe the article. We’ve all seing interview with them, and have seing the behind the scenes takes and they’re always laughing, joking around and everything. Even in the Christmas episode, it was great to see their chemistry as they jokes around before shooting the kiss. I really don’t believe the article!

actually…didn’t they both discuss this in interviews previously? i mean emily said on the view that she does interrupt him…and that she can be “bossy” or whatever. and we know he likes to annoy her back…like trying to kiss her b/c he knows it bothers her. i think the report is just taking a lighthanded comment he made and trying to make drama of it. come folks. we all get tired of being around the same person eventually. i know my best friend and family drive me nuts sometimes: i still love em. it’s just a silly article.

I think it’s more of a brother/sister type of relationship where they tease each other and get on each other’s nerves a lot on purpose. Frankly, I doubt two people who work so many hours together would get along ALL the time. I thought the article was kind of amusing…sounds just like Booth and Brennan.

I agree with Jes it seems like a sibling relationship. They seem to get along fine. They probably bug each other sometimes. But isnt that the character.

One more thing – as I just realized you weren’t featuring the interview but a digital spy take on it.
I don’t know why the writer from this site has such fury against DB – but I recall their name because I always read outrageous personal attacks (of the variety – “Angel the series was great, but DB was terrible”)
His kind seemed quiet for a while but came out of the woodworks lately.

I do think it’s a bit exaggerated. However, I do think that, when you’re working with the same person for a couple of yours, there can be a bit of negative tension between those persons. That might be the case with David and Emily.

Major Gossip. Major lie. Little true. ;)
Who knows DB&ED’s relationship, knows that they get along just fine (really fine). And there’s an interview that Emily gave to the View once, if I’m not in mistake, where she said that she’s opinionated – well, something really similar to what David said ;). Media LOOOVES to twist words..

Older viewer, watched DB from Buffy 1st episode,Angel and Bones. How could you not like, the man. He works hard, and Emily’s Father was already well knownin the business. So please ask the writer of the article to grow up please,

I just think “fairness” is a poor excuse – especially as you don’t post any direct DB words – unfiltered by people who don’t like him.
As for “disclosure” – it’s usually reserved for relevant facts (true) that may cast a different light on the story itself – so I don’t see any “interest of disclosure” here.

haha..this cracked me up:D
The quotes are taken from Metro.co.uk interview where he did mention those, but it was móke like in a joking way and like it was a goodthing.
So hilarious how people take the quotes and make them look bad…hahahah xD

OK, I think that with this my disrespect for the species called “journalists” (particularly the online ones) has reached its utmost depth.
Here is the FULL part of the interview on Metro
on the DB&ED relationship:
“What’s it like doing all your scenes with co-star Emily Deschanel?
It’s a lot of work because we’re in every scene together, but that’s what drives the characters. I like that. It enhances the chemistry.
Do you get sick of the sight of each other?
Oh, yeah. We drive each other crazy and tell each other so. There are days when we show up and don’t get on too well, but we use it in the scenes.
How do you annoy each other?
I’m constantly poking her shoulder and getting under her skin. I think it’s part of my job. She’s very opinionated. I could be talking to a director or producer and she’ll put her two cents in. It’s annoying and I’ve told her about it, but she keeps on doing it.”
I don’t know about you, but what I read here is “We work together a LOT and YES, sometimes our days together start with the wrong foot, and YES we do argue and disagree sometimes (imagine the sometimes italics and underlined , I don’t have thoese font features here)”, but the fact that they used it in the scenes when B&B have to fight (as David immediately points out) does prove that theirs is not a Montague-Capulet-like feud, as Digital Spy (what a f***k name for a E-magazine who manipulates information at its own ease) wants us to believe.
As charachters, B&B love each other in a very deep way: I do not think that any actor could fake looks of love and affection if they hated the person in front of them to bits.
What I think may have pissed the Digital Spy report off is probably this quote of David’s in the same Metro interview:
“I was amazed by how delusional you guys were, thinking that Hatton had a chance against Mayweather”
I was in England in the days before and after the match, and I watched on telly how hopefull the British sport journalists and Hutton’s supporters rightly were. Even though everybody is entitled to both having and expreessing their opinion (especially in “lighter” matters such as sports), when you lose in an international sports event it is really hard to take any comments about it 8I support A.C. Milan and I still remember that when we lost the Champions Cup Final to Liverpool at penalties after leasing the game in the first half 3-0 we supporters were a little touchy on the subject for a very long time).

One more thing. The Metro article’s title is
“Angel star taunts British boxing fans”. It does not even aknowledge David as star of his present show, but labels him as “Angel star”; and if read carefully, it is possible to guess (Brennan would kill me ;)!!!) that the interviewer only “dug deeper” into the annoying each other thing only because David mentioned that SOMETIMES they get on each other’s nerves.

I can imagine DB and ED arguing and disagreeing every once in a while, like siblings. They’re together several hours a day and on weekends when the practice their “effortless” sizzle with a coach. But this article contradicts every written and live interview I read or seen with these two, as well as what I saw with my own eyes when I saw the pair together at Comic Con a couple years ago. They got along great.

I think I recall a lot of these quotes from other interviews and they’re taken out of context. I remember David saying that he pokes at her to get under her skin and that she’s so cute so I think it’s just taking random quotes to try and paint a picture.

Since you edited my post taking out the link to my references (still linked to my handle), I need to add the disclosure element re: digital spy person. he/she wrote a whole review praising “Angel” but starting with:
“Angel took David Boreanaz’s troubled blood-sucker from Buffy and gave the actor a chance to expand on his dubious repertoire of two facial expressions (sad and angry)”
I remember that person because in the past he went out of his/her way to malign DB even when not writing about Angel, Buffy or Bones. Just for kicks. So, judge this person credibility for yourselves.
Me, I still have to wonder why my website is taboo here, so is the BBC radio interview DB gave the same week and the videos of his appearances. How is some hateful hack from digital spy more legit than BBC radio? Why is a comment on a tabloid interview more worthy of being featured here than DB’s direct words on the radio?
