How do you feel about Dakota Fanning playing Jane Volturi in "New Moon"? The Twilighters on Film Gecko sure have lots to say about it here and here.
Fanning’s reps confirmed today that the 14-year-old actress has been offered the role of Jane, a member of Italy’s evil Volturi, for the "Twilight" sequel, "New Moon."
No deal has yet been made, and Fanning has NOT met with "New Moon" director Chris Weitz nor Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the franchise. Rumors of the offer were swirling online before Fanning’s camp even received the official one. They’re scheduled to meet with Weitz and company next week.
"New Moon" is set to begin shooting in March in Toronto and Italy.
Your thoughts on this? Are you ok with Dakota Fanning onboard as Jane Volturi?

Hey ok ive read EVERY FRikin twilight saga book EACH 7 times ok?? i think I would know who fits jane. in da book jane is a perfect little innocent 15 year old. she has two COMPLETELY diffrent sides towards people like edward in the second and third book.her power can make people fall to the ground withering in pain ok??? dakota fanning can be a perfect innocent girl and at times can also be VERY evil. thats EXACTLY what jane is. and i know more then HALF of u people dont even read the books. i wasnt born yesterday! so plz lay off of dakota bcause i got chosen to play in breaking dawn! not even joking u can call 480 twiwiki. p.s. my cousin is dakota so back the **** off!! thx for listening!
And yeah you were right. I didn’t want Dakota to play Jane because I was SO jealous because that’s the part I wanted in the beginning. But I think she’s going to do a good job. Have you seen the New Moon trailer? I’m so pumped for November! If you type in Dakota Fanning as Jane you get a New Moon picture of her. She’s a scary blonde in that picture, ha ha!
I sent in a resume for Eclipse for the part of Bree but I didn’t get the part. Jodelle Ferland did. So now I’m going to try for Breaking Dawn!
okay…i really really like dakota fanning in her younger years. i can’t see her playing jane either, but i support her and applaud her braveness. i’ve only dreamed of being in a twilight movie, and the only reason i have doubted her for playing jane is because i was completely and utterly jealous. im sure some of you people are too. i mean, sure a new face would be more preferred, but i support dakota’s role. good luck to her, and i’m sorry that i didn’t want her to play the part before, she will do her best, and if she does a horrible job than we know what parts she can’t play.
Erm i dont think Dakota fanning is the most obvious choice for jane most people say its rediculous because she’s 15 tall bla bla bla.
She mostly plays innocent good girl parts so i think it would be great to see if she can pull it off and personally even though she doesn’t fit the exact description of jane she is a great idea
If you think about it im sure she’s also playing jane because it will make the film more famous having such a big star in it and i cant wait to see her playing an evil vampire! :D
Im not sure she fits the description too well? Im sure Dakota would make a great Vampire but I dont think she looks evil enough to play jane. I think people are more looking at her innocent childlike face that jane seems to have. ?

I think Dakota Fanning is the perfect part for Jane. I was so excited when I heard that they were considering her. For everyone who says that she is to sweet for this part, think about. She is an actress, maybe she wants to spread her wings some more. Just think where John Travolta would be if he only did dancing movies or singing movies. Or where or Robin Williams would be if he only did comedy. Yes he does have some serious roles out there, and he does an excellent job. So I would just like to say go Dakota Fanning! You’re going to totally pull off that part of Jane!

Dakota is already cast, so it’s too late… but Alec has not been cast yet, and although they have started filming, they haven’t started in Italy yet, their in Vancouver right now.
