The Live Feed reports that ABC has reduced the episode order for yet another series on the network’s midseason schedule. As a result, instead of the original 13-episode pickup, Rob Thomas’ remake of the romantic dramedy Cupid, which premieres Tuesday, March 24, at 10pm EST, will have just 9 episodes all together, including the pilot.
Two other newcomers saw their number of episodes decreased from 13 to 10 installments back at the beginning of November: Nathan Fillion’s hourlong crime dramedy Castle (premieres Monday, March 9, at 10pm) and the hourlong Amber Tamblyn cop dramedy The Unusuals (premieres Wednesday, April 8, at 10pm).
I’m especially looking forward to the last show, which makes me wonder if these developments are simply business as usual in the face of fewer viewers overall watching television nowadays, or if they’re a sign that something isn’t quite right with the series … already.
TV sure isn’t as fun as it used to be, what with all of these infuriating cancellations, episode reductions prior to airing, and questionable pickups (Kath & Kim, anyone?).
