CSI: Miami - Episode 6.14 Recap - You May Now Kill the Bride

CSI: Miami – Episode 6.14 – You May Now Kill the Bride
Air Date: March 24, 2008

The show began during an outdoor wedding and just as she was ready to say “I do,” the bride was shot in the head and killed. The groom’s bodyguard grabbed him, rushed him into a limo and drove away. The rest of the guests fled, screaming.

Alexx found female skin tissue under the nails of the bride. Some special wax used on stripper poles was also on her so the Eric and Calleigh went to the club where the bachelor party had been held the night before. To their surprise, the tissue was from one of the dancers the bride had asked to give her a lap dance. Here’s a clip:

The groom and his bodyguard were taken in and during the arrest, Tripp got gunshot residue on his pants leg from the front of the limo. When they investigated more closely, they found a remote-controlled gun mount underneath the front of the car. They figured out that it had been the murder weapon. It had been set to fire at a special homing device in the chair or one of the guests.

The bullet that had entered the bride’s head was wrapped around what looked like a diamond. So they checked to see what it was and found that it was only a cubic zirconium. The veil had been specially made with real diamonds in it and had cost $1.8 million. When they questioned the veil maker, she said it had a GPS chip embedded in it to prevent theft. She checked the location of the actual veil and it turned up in the trunk of the groom’s sports agent. He had kept it to secure some money the groom had owed to him.

Meanwhile, Eric was called by one of the hostesses at the club that had taken the payment for the bachelor party and she needed him to track down the person who had defrauded the club out of $20,000 using the person’s thumbprint.

When he ran the print, the Best Man came up and he had a lot of priors. He wasn’t as nice as he wanted people to think. That got him arrested for the fraud, but didn’t connect him with the murder.

So Calleigh and Eric went to the scene and decided to reenact the moment. Calleigh put on the veil to do it. Here’s a clip:

It turned out that the same dancer that had given the lap dance to the bride was the intended victim. It seemed that she and the groom had been involved in an affair and she had kinky photos of him wearing women’s lingerie. He had tried to end the relationship when he was going to be married and she threatened to expose his little secret.

When Calleigh figured out that the remote device had been triggered with a cell phone, she tested it to see which of the men had the phone it was programmed for. It turned out that the same sleazy Best Man had been the one to do it. He had been asked by the groom to talk to the dancer and instead, he decided to kill her.

So here are some discussion points from the episode:

  • Do you think the bride had known about the affair and that’s why she had asked the same dancer to dance for her?
  • Do you think that the groom knew the Best Man was a sleaze ball with a criminal record?
  • What did you think of the reenactment by Eric & Calleigh? Did you enjoy the romantic tension in the scene?
  • Is anyone else besides me always touched by the kindness of Alexx when she does the autopsy? She respects them and even talks to them. I love her character. What do you think of her?
  • I have to know if anyone else has heard of a wedding veil that expensive, with a GPS chip inside. How cool, if you’re obscenely rich!
  • What was the most interesting aspect of this episode for you?

I’d love to hear your thoughts on the episode! Leave a comment to share what you think!

It seems to be a nice episode, I haven’t watched it yet because here in Brazil the new season has just begun, it’s a pity, but when I watch I will leave a message here. Kisses to all CSI: Miami fans

    OOPS!

Not only can cubic zirconium cut glass (which means Calliegh’s test wouldn’t have worked), it is also nearly twice as heavy as diamonds (which means their reason for the bride getting hit doesn’t work).

I would have worked better to say that the killer set up the shot when she was wearing a cubic zirconia veil for the rehersal and was hit because she was wearing the diamond one for the actual wedding.
