Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, goes on trial on Oct. 16 on 84 counts of mail fraud, wire fraud and theft of honest services; he is a well-known medical-legal and forensic pathology expert whose resume include appearances in high profile cases such as O.J. Simpson, assassination of President John F. Kennedy, deaths of Elvis Presley and JonBenet Ramsey, Chandra Levy and Laci Petersen cases.
It is said that a select type of jurors will play a major role in his acquittal and lawyer’s performance throughout the trial might not bear much weights compared to the selection of jurors.
Wecht’s lawyers do not want jurors who believe in the system and implementation of the law, but rather would want jurors who are fun of celebrities particularly CBS: CSI which would help Wecht being the celebrity icon he is. Statistics show that celebrities have a higher rate of being acquitted as they have very good and favorable impressions as opposed to someone who is not known.
The case of Wecht’s is believed to be decided on how fanatic people are of him rather than how good his lawyers are.
I wonder how many CSI fanatics are included in the initial list of jurors.
