There aren’t many new releases this weekend as far as I can tell. Just two in wide release and a few more with limited engagements. If you want to see something new this weekend though, go see "Hannibal Rising".

Hannibal Rising stars Gaspard Ulliel, Gong Li, Rhys Ifans, Ivan Marevich and Dominic West. It’s part of the scary Hannibal Lecter series and explains how Hannibal became a cannibal. Here’s what Yahoo has to say about the movie’s plot:
In Eastern Europe at the end of World War II, a young Hannibal watches as his parents violently die, leaving his young sister in his care. Alone and without any means of support, he is forced to live in a Soviet orphanage. He flees to Paris to find his uncle has died but his Japanese widow, Lady Murasaki (Gong Li) welcomes him. Even her kindness and love cannot soothe the nightmares and sorrows that plague him. Showing a cunning aptitude for science he is accepted into medical school, which serves to hone his skills and provide the tools to exact justice on the war criminals that haunt him day and night. This quest will ignite an insatiable lust within a serial killer who was not born, but made.

I’m guessing that this movie will be top billing at the box office this weekend, but since there are a lot of Eddie Murphy fans out there, maybe "Norbit" which also comes out tomorrow will stand a chance.

Norbit is another one of those Eddie Murphy films where he plays almost every character so you need to be a HUGE Eddie Murphy fan to go see this movie. On a positive note though, if you take your kids to see Norbit you probably won’t have your kid waking you up with a bad dream as you would with "Hannibal Rising".
Here’s the synopsis:
Norbit has never had it easy. As a baby, he was abandoned on the steps of a Chinese restaurant/orphanage and raised by Mr. Wong. Things get worse when he’s forced into marriage by the mean, junk food-chugging queen, Rasputia. Just when Norbit’s hanging by his last thread, his childhood sweetheart, Kate, moves back to town.
