Ciara and Gender Rolls In Hiphop

Yo! Raps writer Monika Grzywnowicz is comparing the latest Ciara video, Can’t Leave Em Alone [featuring 50 Cent], with one of her previous clips, Like A Boy.

In doing so, Monika is asking the question whether Ciara’s initially strong and independent persona, shown in Like A Boy, was detrimental to her image as a female RnB singer and whether this new video is a marketing switch.
