‘Chuck’ Graphic Novel #1: Mission Threatmax

Yvonne Strahovski, Zachary Levi, Adam Baldwin/ChuckIn May, I wrote about NBC’s plans to publish a six-issue comic book series for its hit spy dramedy Chuck. The series, from the Wildstorm imprint of DC Comics, kicked off in June. Learn more about each issue at the DC Comics website.

But did you know that NBC has also put together an online graphic novel series in video format for the show, too? If not, do I have a surprise for you — the first installment of that series.

Following a little Buy More banter about African-American presidential candidate Bradford O’Bannon, the plot revolves around a trip that Chuck and Sarah take to Threatmax Prison, the most secret and well-guarded jail in the United States, and it has special ties to Chuck himself. Casey is waiting for them there, and it’s up to Chuck to complete a highly dangerous mission under the alias of Agent Carmichael, who’s an analyst, not a spy.

Take a look at Part 1 of the Chuck online graphic novel after the jump. To get an extra dose of Chuckiness, make sure to stick around until the very end for Captain Awesome’s Tips for Being Awesome!! (Get More Awesome Today!)

FYI: You can also read pages from the print version of the comic book online at NBC’s Chuck website.

[...] Neither journey reaches a clear conclusion, which makes me wonder if either or both of the storylines will get picked up in later installments. As it stands right now, the second video isn’t as satisfying or entertaining overall for me as the first one. [...]
