Can Rosemary’s Baby Be Reborn?

Just when you think you can forget the horror of Rosemary’s Baby, 41MVZ3NWNVL._AA240_ someone has the bright idea to update this film! As the trend of remaking horror movies for new generations continues, Paramount and Platinum Dunes are striking a deal for this updated story.

Rosemary’s Baby is about a young woman who becomes pregnant with the devil’s child (thanks to her elderly neighbors and career hungry husband). See, this sounds updated already. I’m all for the idea of making good movies, and I want this one to be really good. Check out the details for this compelling remake.

Adam Fields (Donnie Darko, Brokedown Palace, Ravenous) will be in charge of production. It’s my hope that they can capture the chilling and diabolical mood of the original film. If you saw this as a part of Monsterfest, as I did, you probably decided it was dangerous to accept food or drinks from nice old people, especially ones who chant together at night!

When Ira Levin wrote the original book, he had a dream that incredibly materialized with Roman Polanski’s direction of the film. Whether this magic will be passed on via the remake is unknown for now. Surprisingly, Platinum Dunes is responsible for many of the latest remakes (notably, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Amityville Horror). Since someone had the foresight to cast Ryan Reynolds, I forgive them for Amityville.

It’s actually fun to think of ways in which this film will be updated. What do you think? Should this one be remade?
