With all that mishegoss last year about his sex addiction, David Duchovny is trying really hard to distinguish between himself and his horny-as-hell character on Californication, which returns to Showtime in just a few weeks.
Unlike Hank Moody, DD seems to have patched things up with his baby mama. He and Tea Leoni were spotted together plenty of times this summer, looking cozy with their two kids.
“We’re good,” Duchovny says in this month’s Rolling Stone. “It’s been a difficult year, for sure,” said the actor, pictured here at the Toronto Film Festival. “But difficulties in life can sometimes be the best thing to happen to a union, and it feels like that for me.”
Hank, on the other hand, will launch into new levels of debauchery when Season 3 drops September 27. As a college professor, he’ll have a campus full of sweet young things to sample. Still, Duchovny says he’s trying to be less flip about sexual exploits on set. He told Rolling Stone that “most of the time with Californication, I’m the one to say something is too crass. I turn into the house prude.”
From there, the conversation turns to fisting and porn stars, so it’s your call on whether DD is serious — or just trying to make it clear he’s no Hank Moody.
