Burt Reynolds has all but disappeared from my radar so I was happy to learn that he has been cast in “A Bunch of Amateurs,” which is being directed by American comedy director Andy Cadiff.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds will star as “Jefferson Steel, a washed up Hollywood action hero who, out of work, vain and insecure, is desperate to revive his flagging career” (wow… life imitating art, or the other way around! Should be a role that he can sink his comedic teeth into!). After he thinks he has landed the role of his dreams (as King Lear in a Royal Shakespeare Company production), he discovers that he has actually been cast in an amateur dramatics group. Ouch!
Reynold’s co-stars include Imelda Staunton (“Vera Drake”), Derek Jacobi (“Gladiator”) and Samantha Bond (“Die Another Day”).
