I never watched the 1980s TV series of Brideshead Revisited, starring Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews, so I’m really hoping I have a chance to see this film.
Directed by Julian Jarrold, this new adaptation chronicles the memoirs of Captain Charles Ryder (Matthew Goode) who is stationed at Brideshead Castle during WWII and remembers his involvement with the owners of the Brideshead estate: the aristocratic and Catholic Flyte family — in particular, siblings Sebastian (Ben Whishaw) and Julia (Hayley Atwell).
Rated PG-13 for some sexual content, it hits theaters in limited release on Aug. 1, 2008. Trailer:
