I can assure you that there’s no possible way that Booth is really dead. After all, we already know he’ll be going to England with Brennan in the two-part season opener for the fourth season. But what could this possibly mean?

The first thought I had was that Sweets was experimenting with the idea of a “what-if?” scenario to trick Brennan into realizing Booth is in fact a “loved one”. And maybe he helped Booth orchestrate this fake funeral as a way of snuffing out Gormogon—while the cat’s away kinda thing. And once Gormogon breaches the impregnable fortress that is the Jeffersonian (with Zack’s help? apparently), Booth’s alive-ness is revealed to Brennan at last. And she storms into his house where he is hiding in his tub guzzling beer out of a ridiculous helmet. Gotta love the convoluted ideas at work in this show!

I hate the dream idea – that ploy has been used too often to heighten viewer anxiety, so I hope the Bones creators aren’t going there. Maybe they’re setting up a scenario for season 4, because nothing’s happened in S3 to warrant Booth faking his death. Guess we’ll see tonight!

I am guessing it’s a hallucination that Brennan has conjured up while watching Booth get taken to the hospital. I agree with b/b4ever, she will probably be shown waking up in a waiting room or beside his hospital bed.
The whole fake funeral thing is hokey. I mean there’s no reason to do it. Not even to trick Gormagon, or to set up some scenario for them to play out via Sweets….unless maybe she goes kinda crazy after the shooting and Sweets has her play it out in her head so she won’t continue building walls around her.
Hmm…lots of possibilities. I just hope at the end of this that Jack and Angela are together and Booth/Brennan’s relationship continues to grow.

Btw, Angela is wearing her engagment ring during the clip, so I doubt they call it quits. I was impressed how great the transition was filmed between the shooting scene and her in the lab.

fan-unfriendly finale. Just phooey. I’m glad I have the summer months to forget about this lame episode.
Acting was great as always, when they let a character have more that a 1 minute scene. What a complete muddle.
