Actor Bokeem Woodbine was a familiar presence during the first two seasons of TNT’s Saving Grace, when he played ill-fated death-row inmate and Grace’s fellow Earl charge Leon Cooley. Although he’s no longer with the show, Woodbine lends his talent to the new feature flick Black Dynamite, a so-called blaxploitation action spoof that opens on October 16.

Woodbine fills the role of Black Hand Jack in the movie, which follows the adventures of the title character (The Dark Knight’s Michael Jai White), a legendary 1970s superhero-style mythical figure who’s on a mission to take down “The Man” and his/their/its plan to ruin the ghetto.
Check out the film’s trailer below and visit a theater near you to see it if such retro stuff floats your boat. I see a whole lotta recognizable TV talent in the clip, including Eureka’s Salli Richardson, King of Queens alumna and current Rita Rocks star Nicole Sullivan, and Rescue Me actor and recent Leverage guest star Kevin Chapman.
Saving Grace returns for the show’s fourth and final season in Summer 2010.
