Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) and Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) have joined the cast of the feature film, The Good Guy, scheduled for a 2009 release.
They join Bryan Greenberg, Andrew McCarthy, Aaron Yoo and Anna Chlumsky in the romantic comedy from Julio DePietro.
Porter will play Tommy, a rising Wall Street star in a budding romance with a new girlfriend, Beth (Bledel). He begins mentoring a seemingly hapless new salesman (Greenberg) who befriends Beth, starting a chain of events that might ultimately lead to his downfall.
I’m having Wallstreet/Charlie Sheen (“I’m going to prison, Dad”) flashbacks here. Yes, I know that was a drama and not a romantic comedy.

McCarthy will play Tommy’s vicious boss, Yoo his crass co-worker, and Chlumsky will play Beth’s unlucky-in-love friend.
Both Porter and Bledel seem poised to break into the next phase of their career. I’ve enjoyed their work on Friday Night Lights and Gilmore Girls, and it seems like they’re ready for more grown-up roles. Check out my interview with Porter here — this was at the beginning of Friday Night Lights.
And Bledel can be seen in the upcoming Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. Can’t wait for that. Loved the first movie.
