Bones’ star Emily Deschanel was born October 11th, 1976 in LA. Her middle name is a bit ordinary (Erin), but she definitely isn’t!
The sister of famous actress Zooey Deschanel and daughter of actress Mary Jo Deschanel and cinematographer/director Caleb Deschanel, Emily was destined to be a star. She graduated from Boston University’s Professional Actor’s Training Program and then started acting.
Her first role was a small part in the movie It Could Happen to You in 1994. Four years later she had a small part in It’s a Shame About Ray. The next year she had a part in the short running TV show The Heart Department which also starred Felicity Huffman. After that she played Pam Asbury in Steven King’s mini series “Red Rose”.
That same year she had guest starring roles on the TV shows “Providence” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.
She then had a role in the pilot “Untitled Dan Finnerty Project” which never made it past the untitled stage.

Her next big break was playing Emily, a supporting role in the film “Easy” that made its way to the Sundance Film Festival.
After that Emily had a small role in the big movie “Cold Mountain” followed by another small part in “The Alamo”.
Following that role she guest starred in the TV “Crossing Jorda”n which is quite similar to “Bones”. I wonder if Jill Hennesey gave Emily any tips on Crime investigation while working together?
That same year she had small parts in the movies “Old Tricks” and “Spider-Man 2″.

In 2005 Emily starred opposite “7th Heaven” star Barry Watson in the movie “Boogeyman”. (Why does she seem to attract all these scary roles?)
After that she had roles in the films “That Night”, and “Mute”.

Emily then went on the star in the movie “Glory Road” before her HUGE break in the TV show “Bones”.

Here is some news I recently heard about: Emily’s sister is scheduled to guest star on Bones as Brennan’s cousin. Even the talented writers of Bones can’t explain away the family resemblance.
