Big 3 networks in bidding war for new JJ Abrams show

According to Herc at Ain’t It Cool News, ABC, CBS, and NBC are currently engaged in a bidding war over a new series developed by Lost co-creator JJ Abrams and Josh Reims. Not much is known about the series — not even its name — except that it involves a husband & wife pair of secret agents. The notion of Abrams tackling the spy genre again makes me downright giddy, though this new show will need a heck of an angle to keep its premise fresh. (Even die hard Alias fans like myself must admit that the show jumped the shark after its first two seasons.)

Another Abrams show seems like a good fit for ABC, which is far more genre-friendly than its rivals. And ABC is about to find itself with a JJ Abrams-sized hole once Lost finishes its run this coming May. But it’s easy to understand why any major network would want to go into the JJ Abrams business.
