I can't wait for the Singer/Larson movie to come out. After four years of the most depressing, boring and convoluted storylines in the history of television, namely GINO, Galactica In Name Only, we're going to have a real sci-fi movie. If you Gino fans don't like it stay home and watch your show on DVD when Balltestar Galactica the Motion Picture is playing at your local theater.
THANK YOU BRYAN SINGER AND GLEN A LARSON!

I would love to see Ron D Moore's BSG on the big screen, as a movie franchise. The series finale certainly made this a possibility. The red stripe cylons jump away, having earned their freedom, and we clearly do not see the Cylon Colony ship being destroyed. It could easily have jumped away in time. There's at least one potential cylon threat that could return, maybe with the red stripes returning to help the distantly related human-cylons on new Earth.
What I don't want is Glen A Larson's cheesy BSG with manbuck stopping off at a casino planet to do some gambling and disco dancing. I don't even want Larson's reimagining of the 70s BSG. Larson needs to accept that Ron D Moore's BSG has become canon. Larson laid the foundations for the series, and for that he has always been credited, but there are many many layers created by Ron D Moore and team, that have made it into something very different, and totally superior. Its like comparing an old style centurion to Caprica Six.

What needs to be realized is that the only reason anyone is even contemplating this over at Universal is because of Ron Moore's reimagined series. If Moore hadn't made Larson's cheese cool, updated, and deep...no one would even be talking to Larson. Also, it's the closest thing Universal has to compete with a money maker like Star Trek over at Paramount. They'll make Larson feel important because he has the rights and then try to keep him out of the mix as much as posssible. It's like being nice to the fat, nerdy kid just because he has a Playstation you'd like to play.

I hated the original, and am a HUGE fan of the new series. In fact, I hate the original only slightly less than I hate Star Wars. And that's immeasurable. I would not go see a movie that's a re-imagining of a recently re-imagined series. That's plain rediculous. They'd throw a huge budget at it, and then all the fans who want to see the show continue like myself will boycott, therefore only fans of the older show, and/or sci-fi geeks not into the new show will see it. The studio will spend more than they will make. I call it right now.

I respect Glen for giving us Galactica to begin with and of course, he didn't have the leeway that Sci FI Channel does 30 years later.

But this version has run for four years, will have a TV movie afterwards and has a prequel in the works as well. It's done all that in an era of fragmented cable channels giving you whatever you want to watch.

The original BSG made it a year with network TV being its only competition. It would be hard to argue the original was more popular.

The original show does better in model sales, but I suspect that's because 30 year old toys have more collector appeal than 30-day old ones.

In any case, I'm going to be very interested to see what happens with Universal's film project.

John, you might give some consideration to your replies.
The point I am making is that the Original Battlestar Galactica was great Science Fiction. (in 1978) would I want to see it done in a 1970's format? no not really your right we have as a culture outgrown that.
but having said that, the new show isnt as cool as most would like everyone to believe.
in fact it was never as popular as the original
thats a fact look it up
The original Battlestar Galactica got higher ratings than the Oscar awards show. which aired the same night and same time as the premiere of Battlestar Galactica.
That is a fact as I said look it up
