Netlet MyNetworkTV announced today that popular former late-night talk-show personality Arsenio Hall (The Arsenio Hall Show) is making a television comeback as the host of the new reality series Funniest Moments. Bob Saget impersonator, anyone?
Admittedly, Hall’s new gig is a tad different from Saget’s previous 19-season-old ABC haunt America’s Funniest Home Videos, which the actor-comedian hosted for eight seasons, from 1989 to 1997.
Instead of focusing on home videos, MyNet’s ripoff version “rides the wave of the exploding popularity of the You Tube and online video craze” by “capturing life’s most outrageous moments caught on tape.”
Home video, tape. See? The similarity is virtually nonexistent.
Catch the new weekly show beginning in Fall 2008 at 9pm EST on Wednesday nights. Or you could just watch ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos on Sundays at 7pm. The choice is up to you — same show, different times, different titles, different hosts, different networks, same show.
