Amy Winehouse is always talking about her husband Blake Fielder-Civil. Whether it’s during a live show and she dedicates a song to him, or whether it’s in an interview, and she tells the reported he’ll be out soon, the two go hand in hand. But they won’t be hand in hand for the next 18 months, after he was today given a 27 month jail sentence.
Winehouse wasn’t at London’s Snaresbrook Crown Court to see the sentence handed down, but she’s probably crying in to her crackpipe about it now. Fielder-Civil has been on remand for 9 months already after being charged with not only assaulting a pub landlord but then attempting to pervert the course of justice after the initial incident.
Fielder-Civil had already pleaded guilty to the charges last month, and the sentencing today was just a formality. According to NME, the Judge in charge, David Radford said that Fielder-Civil’s drug use had a bearing on the length of the sentence.
I’m not going to devote much column space to this, as it really has nothing to do with music, but this is sure to have an effect on Winehouse, and her career plans for the next year or so. At least she now has 18 months to get herself free of drugs, and put some weight on, before “her Blakey” gets released.

Hey Amy, this is a blog about British music, and it has no official connection with Winehouse. She doesn’t actually write it, and I very much doubt whether she’s ever visited the site either. Sorry.
