Amy Winehouse Sensational New Album Coming Together – Fielder-Civil Released

Brit Music Scene has been a bit of an Amy Winehouse-free zone for the past month or so, partly because some readers requested less frequent reports on every facet of her life, and partly because she hasn’t actually done anything for weeks, having been out of the newspapers for some considerable time.

Winehouse was taken to a London hospital suffering from a chest infection last week, but is now back at home and thought to be on the road to recovery. She’s reportedly not well enough yet to have met up with husband Blake Fielder-Civil who was released from jail today (November 5th, 2008).

Fielder-Civil has straight away entered rehab as part of his release conditions and is unlikely to meet up with Winehouse for some time. Meanwhile, she is thought to be back at home working (finally) on her new album, which is well overdue with Back To Black having been released over two years ago now.

Winehouse has a music studio at home, and is said to be tinkering with her new album although no hard and fast work schedule or time line for a comeback has yet been set. One man who is thought to have heard the new material emerging from Winehouse’ head is Lucian Grainge, chairman and CEO of Universal.

Speaking at the Music Industry Trust Awards recently, he is said to have called the new songs “sensational”, before continuing with confirmation of his faith in her ability to return to form soon.

“I believe in her as a person and I certainly believe in her as an artist and that’s what I hope for.”

Amy Winehouse has probably done the right thing in taking some time out from public appearances and live gigging because hopefully it’s given her a chance to recharge her batteries and avoid the endless temptations for drink and drugs.

Back To Black is a magnificent album and I, for one, am hoping her new third album is as good if not better than either that or Frank, her debut album from 2003. Ultimately, Winehouse will have to get off the drugs in order to fully have a continuing career but for now, I just want some new material to prove she’s still got it.
