Throughout all of the troubles Amy Winehouse has had, and they’ve been plenty, I have always tried to see past the drugs, drink, and general wrongdoing in her private life because of the quality of her singing. Unfortunately, even my faith in that part of her life has now been shaken.
This weekend saw The V Festival taking place jointly in Chelmsford and Stafford. Unlike Glastonbury, V is very much a pop festival, and embraces a more diverse mix of artists – one of whom was Amy Winehouse, taking part in her penultimate gig before having an extended break from performing.
The problem was that Winehouse completely failed to live up to expectations. Not only was she late for one of the sets, a lateness that got her booed by the majority of the crowd, but her performance on stage also left a lot to be discovered. If you don’t believe me, just check out these two videos from the weekend.

Would you just look at the state of her. She looks absolutely vile for starters, with straggly hair, dirty skin, and just bones where ordinary people would have flesh. But then she opens her mouth to sing and it all gets a lot worse.
Seriously, she’s out of tune, her timing is out, and she’s basically massacring her own songs. There is also a distinct feeling that she just cannot be bothered, and really doesn’t want to be there in front of her adoring fans.
So the question I have to ask: is there any way back for Amy? If even those of us who tried to see past the crap to the music aren’t being fooled any more, where the hell can she go from here? her next album needs to be absolutely top notch or I fear the fans will turn on her. And after this performance, I wouldn’t blame them.

You know, I had a thought. Ima woman and maybe . . . just maybe . . . all Winehouse needs is a good haircut, just a clip, curl, and a little highlighting. That just might do the trick.

. . . and, oh, by the way, sometimes a woman needs a nice hot bath, a massage, a pedicure/manicure, some nice perfume, stretch out on the divan in a silk robe, read a romance about a REAL man.

I will nevah, evah, forget this review. Not if I live to be 100 years old. Shameful, vile, disgusting. Oh yeah, the adjectives, they tell all. Ol’ Amy. One day AMy gonna be old, yes Lord. She will have wrinkles, and gray hair, and false teeth, and she’ll struggle, yea Lord, to stay upright. Hip surgery when she falls. Oh Lord, she’ll say, “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up!” Yes, she’ll pray, down on her hand and knees, “Oh lord, save me from myself.” Yes. Time and chance happens to us all. The only help we have is Love from do-gooders, yes, only the alleged good samaritans (those not after our hard earned money) will come to save us from ourselves. Amy, oh, Amy, when will you see the light. Pray to God; and, if he won’t listen, pray to the horned one. He’ll listen, ever ready, to serve up his brand of good, though evil, it’s all good.
