Amy Winehouse Close To Death? | Wino: "Life can't go on - I can't do this anymore"

We all know Amy Winehouse hasn’t exactly been healthy for the last couple of years, with the continued drink and drugs abuse really taking a toll on her body. But there are new fears over the state of her health after her latest public appearance where she looked almost on the verge of death.

Winehouse’s year started off surprisingly well, with her winning five Grammy Awards stateside. This made her the most successful artist at the annual backslapping event, and although she couldn’t attend in person, she performed via satellite without messing up one little bit. She actually looked quite healthy and there was optimism surrounding her addiction problems.

But it’s been downhill since then. Her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has been jailed, although he’s expected to be released in to his mum’s care soon. And Winehouse has also been hospitalised twice, the second time being when she was diagnosed with emphysema.

And then there are the numerous incidents of fighting in the street with paparazzi, reporters, and innocent bystanders. While all of this has been going on in her (supposedly) private life, her professional career has bombed, with the James Bond theme slipping away, and her new album nowhere near being finished.

Phew. And that’s only the half of it.

Now, The Daily Mail has news of her latest public appearance, at the End of Summer Ball in London’s Berkeley Square. Not only is she reported to have hit yet another nobody, this time a woman named Sherene Flash, but she’s also reported to have been acting almost suicidal. The photos also show her looking the worst she’s ever looked – skinny, scruffy, and off her face.

Winehouse was at the exclusive party to perform backing vocals for her 12-year-old god-daughter’s début singing gig. After ruining Dionne Bromfield’s show, she reportedly collapsed in a corner and sobbed “Life can’t go on. I can’t do this any more.”

It’s clear that Winehouse is either on the verge of a nervous breakdown or even worse, is suicidal. The pictures show Winehouse looking more gaunt and fragile than ever before, with unkempt hair, smudged make-up, and those tell-tale scratches all over her body which show she’s not happy with herself.

Unless something is done soon, and by that I mean an intervention, I can’t see Winehouse ever recovering. She just seems too far in to the world of harm and abuse she has fallen in to, to ever climb out by herself. It could well be that one of Britain’s greatest talents ends up being tragically wasted, and all we’ll have to show for it is two albums worth of material.
