The After the Attack Sea Lion and Kangaroo episode features two people young people who normally consider themselves to be very family with nature and the outdoors.
Fourteen year old Ella Murphy of Australia is profiled as she was attacked back in 2007 by a 650 pound sea lion. She was casually riding her surf board behind a speed boat when the attack took place. They tried to quickly speed away from the animal but not before it jumped and sunk its teeth into her neck.
Her mom spoke of the years that she had hearing about this attack. The child was so badly hurt because the animal’s teeth were inches away from her artery. She has since made strides of getting past this injury and is wondering what will happen to her if she ever gets back into the water.
Sea lions are generally continued to be very intelligent, but Australian sea lions are one of the most endangered animals on the face of the earth. Dave visits the Australian city of Perth to determine what took place and why the animal attacked.
