Kevin Reilly, Fox Entertainment President, has said that the upcoming season of 24 might be its last.
Season 8 is the last covered by the show’s current contract, and although Kiefer Sutherland remains enthusiastic, Reilly is unsure of the show’s fate.
“It’s our last contractual season of ’24′,” Reilly said. “There are a lot of moving parts, so we’re not sure what will happen after that.”
“We haven’t made any decision whether it’s back or not [after this upcoming season],” says Reilly. “The producers are passionate, Kiefer is passionate and we don’t have any of them looking to jump ship. It’s a show we’re really proud of. It’s going to come down to a business decision. It’s not an inexpensive show on the network books and we also want to finish strong. This is not a show we want to prop up. It will be a whole creative and business discussion and something we’ll have to deal with over the next few months.”

24 is the best action series i have ever watched.I wonder what we will watch once it ends.
Jack’s “energetic” roles were toned down in Season 7 say compared to Season 3 (remember those ending fight scenes in the LA Colleseum and where the F16 takes out an enemy chopper in LA?) Jack needs to leave the show on a high, because I don’t know how season 8 ends, if there is not a “closing” ending to Season 8 and Jack’s life moving on beyond his “CTU” type roles; there should either be a FINAL Season 9 OR the whole crew should go back to the drawing board and do what the whole 24 crew always spoke about, DOING A MOVIE, the movie should be the close to the series and it would be nice to end with Jack Bauer and Audrey Raynes walking off into the sunset. Peace to all! Please FOX end the series with a 24 Movie! (thank you!)
can’t imagine if 24 will end…i’ve been very supported in all the seasons they’ve made. I hope that this will not the end, i love this series and make my life complete if i’ll watch the show. Keep it up!
But if this show ends what will I ever watch? House is good, but everything else on the air is trash. CSI New Zealand! Yeah, they are going to solve how the alph pengiun was murdered! You get the point….snore
we have all 7 seasons of 24,please hurry up with season 8,its the best series ever my family are walking around with long faces, and cant wait 4 the next one.
i must admit. im the biggest 24 fan of all time, and to see 24 end would end my life. 24 is a revolutionary show that could continue its successful run for as long as Kiefer Sutherland is alive, because you cannot find a better man to play Jack Bauer than Kiefer Sutherland.

24 fans were faithful to the show while they were on strike – we have every faith that the writers still have a lot of material to give this show an extension to at least two more years. This show reflects a lot of what our world is enduring and we need a “Jack Bauer” to give us hope that these bad plots will fail and our world will be a better place!
I believe that 24 will continue,and it is so electrifying,and the script writers are true to reality and what is happening around the world. Jack and the others are great – keep the show going. You are doing a great job.Your show is followed here down under in New Zealand

24 is one of the best shows on tv. I just bought the tvguide magazine with the 24 article stating this may be the shows last season. Sadly I gave my Dad the article and he is floored. This show is his absolute favorite and in his words ” The show took a break while the writers were on strike, given a new contract and more money and now they want to take the show off the air, Im going to go on a starvation diet and when I die it will be all there fault” Needless to say LMAO he is not happy. This show has been on for 8 seasons and is still going strong, there is always a story to be told, there are always new things going on in the world that would be written about and as long as Keifer is in good health and willing to keep on being Jack Bauer, I think the network would be making a huge mistake in taking this show off the air when it has millions and millions of viewers. Just when a show is at it’s peak the networks want to take it off the air to replace it with what? another reality show? Please….We’ve been tortured wnough with the ever growing reality tv. 24, NCIS, and Criminal Minds are the 3 best shows there is and taking one off the air is taking away from millions of people and I hope it doesn’t happen.
This is the one show we do not tape, we watch as it airs – the best drama show on TV – please continue but give Jack a break – less beatings, he is a nice Canadian guy!
I have watched every minute of 24 from hour 1 day 1. It is my most favorite most anticipated program all year.I’ve become a major Kiefer fan, he is fantastic. So please, please do not stop after season 8 or even 28. I’m glad that agent Walker is coming back. She is a good match for Bauer. I too am glad Jeanean Garafalo isn’t back, I don’t think the part was too difficult for her to play. She always seems unhappy in her skin in real life too. But the producers wanted to show that unlike liberal producers they could hire actors with opposing views. I don’t answer the phome while 24 is on, even tho I’m recoding it at the same time, in case I miss a minute. Jack Bauer should head Homeland Security.
24 is an adictive show i have ever seen, Jack Bauer is a borm. ever since i started watching this show i have lost interest in other shows or movies due to the artistic mind the actors portrays. Kiefer act as many seasons as you can before you get old. As at now you are the best!!!!!!!
Someone oughta but togheter a website/blog/list with people that want 24 to continue. Send it to the network and hopefully we will see the dawn of yet another season.

Keep in mind that there are millions of 24 fans that certainly want this series to continue far beyond season 8; we realize there’s a lot which, depends on the ratings, cost and many other things. However, I urge you and Fox to really consider and perhaps ask the loyal 24 fans what they would like to see beyond season 8, let the fan base weight-in on the decision process.
This series must continue beyond season 8, and story lines have to be written and developed to continue to capture the viewers, there are so many other ideas that have not been explored or perhaps they have, but not given the opportunity to sore. I urge you and Fox to think about season 9 & 10 and give the loyal fans some more of what they want to see. Jack Bauer & Chloe O’Brian…

if they stop 24 after season 8 then it will be the end of television as we know it..it is the only show on t.v. that is intelligent and entertaining.i never ever want it to end. and there are millions of fans who agree. and jack is hot!
Jack Bauer character has made many of us question the reality of the government’s actions… Any show that makes us think is a show that we seem to crave… I also enjoy seeing Kiefer develop his craft in such a great arena! Keep up the wonderful work, Kiefer, and know that you have many fans who admire you & your hard work. Can we please have another season after season 8? We aren’t quite ready to lose you yet!
