I missed the season finale – how can I get a copy of it on DVD? punkvideo81@hotmail.com

Well said, su – I agree completely. Season 6 was a very satisfying, pace-changing story … I think the series is now set up to go in some very good directions… Season 6 Finale: Life

What’s up with all the negative thoughts man? i personally felt that the ending was befitting as it brings to light the fact that Jack is human and that there is only so much a person can take…whether or not he does proceed in taking his life is another matter; let’s just focus on his character, that this is a man of integrity and his patriotism really does see no bounds…you rock! Granted that the rest of the episodes of season 6 were not as thrilling as the previous seasons, it was still good entertainment and had me hooked till the end…

I have only seen season 5 and 6 mainly because season 5 was fucken leathal!! I have to admit that it was alright that they didnt leave it at a cliff hanger and rounded most things up, its just the way that they ended it, i mean, what? The ending was stupid cause we know that he wont commit suecide . But i think that they might not show Jack for a while in Seaon 7, maybe he disappears forever or he comes back to help his country after a few epesodes? I would of prefered a different ending though but i still cant wait!! BRING ON 2008!!

A fade out by the end of the season? That’s a new. I ‘d say the entire 6th season didn’t do very well in terms of character arc. The last episode was probably the best thing out of the entire season; as for a ending, they better have some crazy ass twisted opening for season 7!!!

I am a huge 24 fan. I was greatly dissapointed this season. In reading a lot of posts from different sites, it seems the defenders of this season feel that the writers had to slow it down to make it a bit more believable. Screw that. I watch 24 to see who is going to be a lying sneaky double crosser. I love the way the writers used to be able to throw in crazy twists. This season was just too predictable and too boring.

The girl sleeping with the russian spy….didn’t we see that in season 1 when the girl was sleeping with Draben’s son? I am sure that Logan getting stabbed was no surprise. I am sure that Palmer collapsing was no surprise. I DVR’d this season so I did not see the previews or anything. The only two things I was surprised about was how bad of an actor Wayne Palmer was and how crappy the ending was.

I thought the end of this season was going to be a crazy twist. It would have been cool if Heller was behind everything. I do not know how they would pull it off but the writers are talented and they would have been able to.

Last note. Season 1 was able to keep you with suspense and not much violence. Season 2 – 4 were great. Season 5 was very good but they started packing too much in too little time. This carried over into season 6 and unfortunately I was left very dissapointed. Keep in mind, while I was dissapointed with this season, it was still good (just the worst of the 6).

Questions – Didn’t Jack get stabbed and shot in the left shoulder? A lot of pain to endure within 24 days let alone 24 hours.

Wow, finally an ending where it is about a character reflection and actually has some power to it and you all want a twist/surprise ending! I guess you are the same people who hated Superman Returns and wanted more action then when it does come will bitch about how it lacked story! Man, come on!

“-Tom Lennox, along with Palmer’s doctor enters the room and kills Palmer. (It is not known why they kill him but it will be revealed next season)”

Kill off another Palmer? Wouldn’t happen. And if Tom wanted Palmer dead he would have went along with Chad Lowe’s plot earlier in the season. It wouldn’t make any sense no matter how you tried to explain it.

    This is my finale:
    -Jack’s father handcuffs Josh.

-Jack’s father attempts to escape and Jack confronts him.

-Jack attempts to shoot his father but cannot and lets him escape.

-President Palmer is shown in a comma.

-Tom Lennox, along with Palmer’s doctor enters the room and kills Palmer. (It is not known why they kill him but it will be revealed next season)

-The doctor calls President Palmer’s sister.

-Lennox goes on to call Cheng but is interrupted by….

    -Bill takes Cheng into custody.

-Jack moves on but cannot find Josh.

-Jack realizes that he is out of time and will not be able to save Josh.

    -Jack, Cheng, and Bill leave.

-The camera focuses on Josh, as the oil platform burns up in flames.

-Jack arrives back at CTU, where he has to inform Marlin of the news.

-Marlin tells him never to talk to her again, that she trusted him, and that no one he knows remains alive.

-The screen shows Jack’s mind (he is going crazy) thinking about how Kim left, Terri’s death, Palmer’s death, etc.

-The season ends with Jack hearing his conversation with Heller.

My biggest fear is that season 7 takes place 9 months later. And guess who’s baby is due to drop any minute, but first she has to unscramble some terrorist codes. God, that would suck. The Chase baby storyline from season 3 was one of the weakest plot threads of the entire series. Please don’t bring another baby back to CTU, unless they plan on blowing it up. An exploding baby would definitely be good television.

Well, I’ve read all the above comments and many are very good. However, I have to agree with the majority. This season was disappointing. I love, love, love Kiefer’s character Jack, and like it or not thats what makes 24 a GREAT show. The work Kiefer does is the glue that holds the show together. Let’s face it, most of us need a “hero” and Jack (Kiefer) is it. As bad as I hated to see them write off the character Tony, I’m not sure it would be good for the show to bring him back. Although, I would love it if they did. I feel bad saying the Season 6 wasn’t that good, but I’m hoping some “writer” will read some of these comments and get the show back on track.

Well, here’s what I think. First of all, it’s Almeida, not Almeta. Secondly, I think the ending kinda sucked. I mean yeah it brings closure to the season and to all the things that were getting repetitive (the common theme to the season) But I mean come on, they could have done SOMETHING to get us ready for the next season! I mean seriously, I remember spending everyday from last May to this January waiting to find out what the hell the Chinese were doing to Jack. And now what, i’m waiting to see if jack is still staring out into the sun rise? Or gazing down to the rocks? I don’t know. But his confrontation with Heller was so sick and necessary, to end it like that was kinda a buzzkill. I heard rumors about Tony coming back so I must say even though he’s “dead” I was pretty upset. In TV guide there was a clip that read something like this– “The season finale of season 6 proves to be as action packed and suspenful as usual. We could tell you more, but lets just say someone who you thought was long gone will be returning with vengence. (yes, it’s true.)” And don’t even try to tell me you all didn’t think Tony when you heard that. However, no one came back with any sort of vengence, especially no one who I thought was long gone, so I really don’t know what tv guide is smoking. Tony’s “death” didn’t even get a freaking silent clock but the end of this episode did? Pretty sure there was nothing CLOSE to meriting a silent clock. Also, I don’t know how I feel about chloe being knocked up. If thats her way of leaving the show, then that’s fine. But if this is going to be part of the storyline…no thank you. If i wanted to watch a soap opera I would, thanks.
    Well, see you next season

To be honest, I liked this better than option 2 (Logan, mastermind of a “anti-terrorist group) or option 3 (Tony working for Henderson). I would have liked to see Tony back, but not in the way option 3 described.

Still, I didn’t like how this season ended. In fact, I didn’t much like this season. Hopefully next will be better.

I thought this season – and the finale – had a very different pace from the other seasons – and this was refreshing and excellent. 24 Season 6 Finale: Life… http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2007/05/24-season-6-hrs-23-24-finale-life.html

This should have been called “21″. A great cliffhanger would have been finding out that the kid was Jack’s and his grandpa took him to China.

That would have set up a great movie and lead to Season 7…

Staring at the ocean because annoying girlfriend is catatonic? Lame. Very Lame.

The last two episodes were well written and were good episodes, but not worthy of a finale. all of this could have happened an episode or two earlier and still left room for a good finale. the writers need to really come up with something new and different for day 7. This season was almost pitiful. The best parts took place in the white house. The only unpredictable shocker was milo getting killed. They need to take ’24′ out of L.A. and need to move away from bomb threats. They can come up with better story lines than that. But I do think Chase Edmunds character in season 3 was GREAT. I would love to see him come back. The dynamic between him and jack was fantastic.

  18. By Trevor

I’m sorry, but any ending involving bringing anyone back from the dead would have “sucked monkey balls”.

Those options were less about a better ending and more about finding an excuse to bring back characters whoever wrote these liked. And it’s not a bad idea just because bringing characters back from the dead is a bad idea (which it usually is) it’s a bad idea because it’s got nothing to do with anything. Nina Myers & Tony Almeda have had no connection to the day whatsoever. Those things just would have been a tacked on cliff-hanger for the sake of a cliff-hanger, and that’s just bad writing. (I wasn’t a fan of David Palmer being poisoned at the end of 2)

The real ending had a hell of a lot to do with the day. Making his peace with Audry, chewing out James Heller for abandoning him and reflecting on what to do now that over 3 years of being on the run or in prison are over with. And I like how the Josh rescue had a lot to do with about how Jack had just been “written of as an acceptable expense)” It all tied in, nothing seemed forced or tacked on, and it was good writing. But still…not a good season overall.

    Here are the alternate endings:

    Option # 2
As the helicopter nears CTU, Bill’s instruments go haywire. The Chinese don’t want Cheng to be interrogated because he knows too much and they would rather he die along with Jack. The helicopter is locked onto and Cheng’s men hit it with an RPG. The chopper is going down and it appears a crash is imminent. Cheng is actually happy and is pleased he will be killed as he fears what the U.S. interrogators would have done to him. But Cheng will not have his death and Bill knows his stuff and he’s able to maneuver the chopper and he makes a crash landing on CTU. The landing is really rough but everyone is alive. Jack gets out and he takes aim at the Chinese agents on the adjacent building but they are long gone. Jack rushes back to the helicopter and helps Josh get out. Bill secures Cheng and escorts him and Josh inside CTU. Jack stays behind and watches as everyone goes inside. He feels that he almost got Josh killed and he takes it hard. Jack walks to the edge of CTU and he looks down and then looks back towards the door but there’s nobody there. There’s a close-up shot of Jack as he realizes he’s at the crossroads of his life. Jack’s cell phone rings but he just grabs the phone and tosses it onto the street below. After a few moments, Jack blinks fast a few times and realizes he still has a life to live. Jack turns around and walks back into CTU. Jack walks through the building unnoticed as everybody is doing their own thing. Josh is with Marilyn and she’s smiling and kissing Josh on top of the head. Jack looks up and sees Bill in his office bandaging up the wound on his head and talking to Karen on the speakerphone. Jack looks over and sees Morris with Chloe and Morris has his hand on her belly and Jack smiles as if he knows Chloe is pregnant. Jack walks out of CTU and the Counter Terrorist Unit is a closed chapter in Jack’s life. Jack is cleared by security and he walks outside of the CTU gate and onto the public street.

There’s a quick scene back at CTU but I don’t have full details on it and it appears to be filler. It looks like Vice President Daniels calls to speak with Jack but nobody knows where Jack is and Bill tells Chloe that if Jack wants to be found he will be. Heller is also still at CTU and he tells Bill that he would like to speak to the Chinese intelligence officer that they captured. A scene here that was written but never shot was Heller grabbing Cheng by the throat and telling him how much fun he’s going to have with him.

Back out on the public street, Jack is still walking. A man on a motorcycle appears and he’s driving towards Jack. Jack is cautious and he puts his hand on his gun but nothing happens and Jack realizes that he doesn’t have to run anymore, the motorcycle man was nobody. Jack walks into an alleyway and he rests against the wall as he takes the day in and realizes that everything is over.
But everything is far from over.

As Jack turns the corner of the alleyway he’s hit in the head and he crashes to the ground in a semi-conscious state. A big black SUV pulls up and a woman gets out and helps the other man put Jack in the back seat. The SUV peels out and Jack is still hurting and in and out of consciousness. His blurry eyes look over to the right and his eyes adjust to reveal a man sitting next to him. Jack’s eyes adjust to reveal a smiling President Charles Logan. Logan appears to be favoring his shoulder but he’s in pretty good shape. Logan tells Jack that there’s a lot he has to tell him and he needs to know that Jack won’t try anything stupid after he shows him something. Then Logan tells a brief story about being the head of some energy corporation a while back and talks about Jack in Mexico five years ago and he mentions that Jack ruined his plans there. The woman driver tells Logan that they are not being followed and that nobody is exactly in a hurry to look for Jack. The woman turns around and the look on Jack’s face registers as pure shock. IT’S NINA MYERS. Jack is furious and confused but Logan explains this in a way in which I still don’t understand. Logan says that Jack killed “one of his girls” as she attempted to break out of CTU but that women wasn’t the operative Jack knew as Nina Myers. Logan shows Jack a photo of Logan in his 30’s and he’s in some sort of overseas village at a house on a cliff over looking the ocean and he’s with two young twin sisters who appear to be around seven or eight years old.

The season ends with Logan mentioning some sort of anti-terrorist organization and that Jack’s father was among the founding members and that now that both Phillip and Graham are dead they will need another Bauer to step up and assume the duties of keeping the world safe. The show ends with Logan telling Jack how much his country needs him and the final shot is of a confused Jack unsure of what to think and unsure of what’s to come.

    END OF SEASON
Special Note: Internal rumors of a super secret ending to add onto the above scenes which apparently nobody really knows about which likely means it’s bogus but nonetheless should be noted.

    Option # 3
Jack drops off of the helicopter (on purpose) and Buchanan knows not to go look for Jack and that if he ever wants to be found he will be.
Jack makes it to the shore and sits and looks off into the ocean. There’s complete silence as Jack ponders where his life goes from here, he’s at the crossroads of his life. Then out of the silence we hear a faint sound. As the sound grows closer we realize it’s a helicopter. Jack looks behind him at a house on a cliff and a piercing white light focuses in on him as the helicopter descends down and lands on the beach. Jack takes out his gun and he thinks it’s CTU to come and detain him but it’s not. A heavily armed special forces unit pours out and they make Jack drop his gun. Jack complies and the men put a blindfold over Jack’s head and take him inside the helicopter. The soldiers place Jack next to their leader who remains unseen as he’s talking on a cell phone which obscures his identity. The man on the phone hangs up and we go to complete darkness as we are now watching from Jack’s perspective. Then we hear the voice. I’m paraphrasing and it went something like; “I’m going to remove your blindfold Jack, but you need to understand something first. There are people within our government who want change. Two years ago I was part of that change and I payed a steep price for my patriotism… That price {Jack’s blindfold is removed} ….. was my wife”… Jack’s eyes adjust to reveal Tony Almeida. Jack simply replies with “Tony” as the look on his face registers as pure shock. We are left to believe that Chris Henderson recruited Tony well before day 5 and that Tony’s alleged death was nothing more than an elaborate hoax so that he could continue whatever work Henderson’s group has plans for. I guess we’re supposed to believe that Tony is recruiting Jack and this will lead us into the drastic season 7 change.

I do see your point that it was an ending more than a cliffhanger…which can be good..I thought it was done VERY well in season 3 when Jack got into his car and just broke down. it was very fitting, and a fantastically emotional ending. But this ending just sucked monkey balls. We all know jack isn’t going to commit suicide. Although that would make sense…the only person who can kill jack bauer is jack bauer himself!! (LOL). But I thought they could have done something to really get the audience to anticipate the hell out of Day 7. At the very least, something like, while jack is staring out over the cliff, he gets a phone call on his cell. His caller ID says “Tony Almeta” and then it ends… I have read 2 or 3 alternate endings that the writers toyed with and both were better than the one they actually went with. all I know is they better release the prequel for season 7 very quickly so they can keep the 24 fans on the edge of their seats for January.
