It feels like it has been an eternity since this movie was announced but, finally, Terminator Salvation will be released in theaters next week on May 22, 2009. There’s almost as much buzz surrounding the plot as there is about the portrayal of John Connor by Christian Bale and all I have to say about that is that I hope his little on-set ranting and raving was worth it.
The film is set in the year 2018. With Judgment Day behind them, what’s left of civilization (basically nothing) is roamed by an army of Terminators who collect and kill the few humans they find hiding in desolate cities and deserts. As you have probably guessed, a Resistance is being powered by small groups
The artificial intelligence agency, Skynet, became self-aware 14 years earlier and now controls the Terminators after it broke away from the commands of its creators and unleashed nuclear annihilation on humanity.
Of course, if you’ve followed the story since the beginning (or, at least from the second movie T2: Judgment Day) you will know that one man, John Connor, knew that this was all going to happen but something unexpected happens and it shakes his beliefs that the human race has a chance of winning the war against the machines – he meets Marcus Wright (played by Sam Worthington). Despite Wright’s odd past, Connor must try to find a way to trust the man since they will need to work together to infiltrate Skynet and meet the enemy head-on.
The cast is pretty impressive since, along with Bale and Worthington, it stars up-and-comers like Bryce Dallas Howard and Anton Yelchin. Just this weekend when I saw Star Trek, I was talking about Yelchin (who played my favorite character, Pavel Chekov) and what a bright future this kid has. He’s been excellent in everything I’ve seen him in (have you seen Charlie Bartlett? If you haven’t, rent it!) and I know that he’s going to be great in Terminator too.
The studio recently released a four-minute trailer/clip from the movie and I’ve got to say that it has definitely increased my need to see this film. It looks incredible! Check it out for yourself!

I’ll watch anything with Christian Bale in it, he’s an awesome actor. Looking forward to be being excited about this franchise again.
