The Big Bang Theory Summary

The Big Bang Theory Episode Guide | The Big Bang Theory Website

Co-created and executive produced by Chuck Lorre, the same man who brought the world television’s current top-rated sitcom Two and a Half Men, the so-called “genius comedy” The Big Bang Theory stars Johnny Galecki of Roseanne and Jim Parsons of Judging Amy as Leonard and Sheldon, best-friend geeks who know a lot about academic stuff but not so much about life—especially women—until sexy babe Penny (Kaley Cuoco of Charmed and 8 Simple Rules… for Dating My Teenage Daughter) moves across the hall, opening the door for them to mingle a bit more with average people.

The CBS press release describes the rest of the premise.

[Penny] quickly makes an impression on the other members of Leonard and Sheldon’s geek squad – Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg, “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip”), who portrays himself as the Casanova of Cal Tech, and fellow whiz kid Rajesh Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar, “NCIS”), who is rendered speechless around anyone unprepared to converse about the Theory of Relativity or other scientific jargon. The chemistry between this gaggle of geniuses and a delightful damsel is about to undergo a stimulating series of inter-personal experiments.

In its debut season, The Big Bang Theory is lucky enough to be paired in the 8–9pm EST hour with the very funny lead-in How I Met Your Mother, a show that targets an identical age demographic and has a very loyal following. The series’ first go-round will also feature Galecki’s fellow Roseanne alum Sara Gilbert, who played his wife, in a multi-episode guest-star arc as a romantic interest for Leonard.
