After signing Juan Uribe, the Los Angeles Dodgers needed to free up room in their infield. They were able to accomplish just that by trading Ryan Theriot to the St. Louis Cardinals for Blake Hawksworth. The move will allow Uribe to play second base for the Dodgers, while Theriot will get a new start after struggling in his 54 games with the Dodgers last season.
Theriot came up in 2005 with the Chicago Cubs and played there until the Cubs traded… More »
Prior to the season, the NBA made it a goal to have players argue less with the referees. One of the main culprits in recent years was Stephen Jackson of the Charlotte Bobcats. On Tuesday, Jackson was made an example out of when the NBA suspended him a game for his conduct towards ref Eli Roe.
According to league officials, Jackson “verbally abused” Roe after he was ejected from Charlotte’s game on Saturday against the Milwaukee Bucks. Jackson also hurt his… More »

The San Francisco 49ers started the season 0-5. For most teams, that start would kill any playoff chances. However, the Niners are in the NFC West — the worst division in the NFL. After beating the Arizona Cardinals on Monday Night Football by a final score of 27-6, San Francisco is 4-7 and only one game back in the NFC West.
Unfortunately for the Niners, the win against the Cardinals came at a great cost. Starting running back Frank Gore broke… More »

For instance, Bo Jackson’s NFL career was over after suffering a hip injury.

With the New York Yankees going after Cliff Lee of the Texas Rangers in free agency, the Rangers have returned the favor and they are now going after Andy Pettitte. The 38-year-old has proven to be one of the clutchest pitchers in baseball over the years and since he’s from Texas, the Rangers are regarded as a legitimate threat to land the lefty.
Since 1995, Pettitte has played for the Yankees each year except for the three seasons he played with… More »
