I’m in SQL just about every day of the week. Supporting multiple clients with multiple SQL servers in operation, we’re regularly working on databases. Part of that process is to backup and restore databases on our local machines for development.
One of the annoying items about SQL for me is that it wants to bury your database files deep within the Windows program folder for your SQL install. I really don’t want to dig down 7 levels of folder structure to… More »
The “new’ of the Sims 3 intro hasn’t warn off on me yet.
With Sims 2, the second the game goes to the load screen, I hit the space bar and then sit there and twiddle my thumbs while I wait for the game to load.
With Sims 3, I still wait for it to play all the way through before I get excited to play the game.
Wait. Am I the only one?
Apparently so since Rick created a “no intro” hack for… More »
At the end of your resume, you probably have listed two or three people the potential client or employer can call as references. If you have a stable of writers working under you or work closely with an editor, however, you could find the tables turned – you may be asked to serve as a reference.
Last spring, I offered an internship position for the first time. I found a great writer to work with me, and now he’s on the… More »
Bucco Bruce is back! The Tampa Bay Bucs today announced their first-ever “Throwback Game” (November 8 against the Packers) and resurrected an unforgettable part of Buccaneer history in the process—the inaugural, winless 1976 season “Florida Orange” jerseys. I consider these to be, perhaps, the ugliest uniforms in NFL history. The Bucs are just hoping history doesn’t repeat itself.

It’s Friday night so I’m trying to catch up on my reading before the weekend. I have several business related blogs in my Google Reader, so from time to time I hope to share some of my favorite blogs, and my favorite posts with you here. Inspirational posts, are also a favorite if mine, so you might get some of them too. So grab a cup of coffee and settle in for a little weekend reading.
If I think it might… More »
I know I should, it’s got lots of handy features, but I just haven’t gotten used to using FriendFeed for anything. I know it consolidates and organizes much of the updates that I’m interested in across a variety of social networks. I’m just not using. Why not?
Maybe I just haven’t spent enough time really playing with it to figure out how it could really change the way I handle social media. I love using twhirl to update my twitter accounts,… More »
Tony Stewart will be hoping for rain before every qualifying round if events keep going the way they have the last two times he qualified for a NASCAR event. Friday’s qualifying round for Sunday’s Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 was canceled due to persistent rain falling on the 2.5-mile triangular venue of Pocono Raceway.
Marking the second time in as many events that qualifying for an event has been canceled due to inclement weather and the fifth time this year a… More »
Earlier today, I reported on a story involving UCLA’s coaches and their salaries. Both head football coach Rick Neuheisel and the school’s basketball coach have volunteered to reduce their salaries to help relieve the state and school budget. Like many major college football coaches, Neuheisel makes over a million, plus gets bonuses for doing well.
But there are many coaches who make even more. It’s no surprise that USC’s Pete Carrol tops the list, making a base salary of $4.4 million…. More »

Maybe he was playing to prove a point, or maybe he finally found his lost putting stroke. Either way, Tiger Woods reminded everyone why he is the world’s best golfer after firing a brilliant 9-under 63 to put himself into contention at the Buick Open. His anemic opening round 1-under 71, in which his putting bordered on the criminal, had many wondering if Tiger was inline to miss his second cut in a row, after missing the cut at the… More »
July 31st Louisiana Downs Recap
Fast and off the turf on Friday. Early-pressing types dominated.
Leading rider Don Simington brought home five winners on the day.
My longshot play of the day Getupbillygetup took action and failed to fire despite a decent stalking trip.
My best bet Final Bel got a decent pace to chase, but the speed did not back up and she checked in 4th to complete the superfecta.
Got a couple more tops home, and my 2nd and 3rd choices won five races…. More »
Entertainment Weekly’s new cover story about the popularity of vampires hit newsstands today. There are interviews with the authors behind Twilight and True Blood, a list of the 20 greatest vampires of all time (I disagree with their number one) and Anne Rice’s pick for the new best vampire. Hey, didn’t she stop writing about vampires?
Who do you think wins the spot for number one vampire? And why does this cover frighten me in a bad way?
