Papa Clem did not do enough in his two morning works since arriving in Louisville, so Gary Stute sent him out for a swift three furlong blowout (:34.47). He really needed that stiff move, but I still do not fancy the son of Smart Strike. I thought the Arkansas Derby was weak, and he seems a cut below the best.
Last minute entrant Nowhere To Hide, trained by former Derby winning trainer Nick Zito, had a… More »
Alex Rodriguez is under scrutiny once again. According the forthcoming book by Selena Roberts on A-Rod, Rodriguez hasn’t been truthful about his comments over the offseason regarding his steroids usage.
According to New York Daily News, in the book former teammates and other people around the game of baseball believe that Rodriguez began using steroids as early as high school. Additionally, the book hints that Rodriguez continued to use steroids after he was acquired by the New York Yankees. Rodriguez has… More »
Is Apple stagnant? In a seemingly endless rain of new and tweaked products, even a few months without an Apple advertising campaign in my face seems like forever. What have they done lately?
From Apple’s Hot News section, today’s entries are “Newsflash: University hosts app design competiton” and “Says J.D. Power: Apple highest in smartphone customer satisfaction.” The previous 7 before that:

You know, with each passing technological evolution the traditional Nielsen ratings get just a little more outdated. Former entertainment lawyer Eric Belloni writes a column about Hollywood and the law at The Hollywood Reporter. This week he looks at the shows that got illegally file shared the most and NBC’s embattled drama Heroes tops the list with an estimated with 1.6 million downloads. The top 10 also includes SFUniverse faves Supernatural, Smallville and Fringe. Second on the list is… More »
NV Energy, the biggest power company in the state of Nevada, has reached the “green” goal set out by state regulators. The goal was for the company to use at least 9% renewable power. Compared to other power supplies, renewable power is much better for the environment.
Although the goal has been around since 2001, this was the first time NV Energy reached the goal. Renewable power includes everything from wind to water, and from geothermal to solar.
While this was a… More »
Chrysler, the third biggest car maker in the United States, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Thursday. Although the company has been fighting for ways to avoid bankruptcy in recent months, their creditors continued to fight for their money and Chrysler decided it had no other option.
Already living off of federal bailout money, Chrysler will now get more bailout money — as much as $8 billion more. After filing in New York, the company says that they will attempt… More »
Yes, it’s a movie about a turkey baster. Specifically, a turkey baster which Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) turns to in order to get pregnant. She’s unmarried and 40-something, and running out of time.
But seven years later, it all goes either oh-so-wrong or oh-so-right when it turns out that her best friend Wally (Jason Bateman) replaced the sperm sample with his own!
Directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck (co-directors on “Blades of Glory”), on a screenplay by Allan Loeb (“21″), “The Baster”… More »
My friend Rick has been in a relationship with his girl for four years. Every Friday night, they have “date night.” This is set in stone, which means no matter what comes up (playoff games, road trips, whatever) Rick can’t go if it’s on a Friday.
Oftentimes, my other buddies and I razz him about it and tell him to move date night to Tuesday or something. He insists that his woman wants either Friday or Saturday every week as their… More »
Monster Worldwide, the parent company for a variety of websites such as Monster.com, Military.com, Tickle.com, Fastweb.com and HMForces.co.uk, saw its revenue plummet in the first quarter of 2009. Considering that their main property is Monster.com and unemployment is at a high not seen in decades, it’s not surprising that the parent company is struggling.
For the quarter ending on March 31st, Monster Worldwide had revenue around $254 million. In the first quarter of 2008, the company had revenue of more than… More »
The annual Glastonbury music festival is one of the biggest in the world, both in terms of the number of people who attend, and the worldwide acclaim for the event. The man behind it all? Step forward Michael Eavis, the dairy farmer turned festival supremo.
Eavis, now 73-years-old, started holding the Glastonbury festival in 1971 after being inspired by Led Zeppelin’s performance at the Bath Festival of Blues and Progressive Music the previous year. It’s since been held every year or… More »
"The Beaver" is one of those offbeat projects that could either be a smash hit or a really weird movie. Kyle Killen’s script centers on the close relationship between a man and a beaver puppet he wears on his arm. He talks to it and treats it like a companion. I’m flashing on "Lars and the Real Girl," the movie starring Ryan Gosling as a guy attached to his inflatable doll. At one… More »
This comes as no shock to me. Rafael Nadal has made Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list. He’s listed under the Heroes & Icons section along with Michelle Obama, Tiger Woods, George Clooney and Sarah Palin…just to name a few. In an article written by Serena Williams, she has this to say about Nadal: I have never seen such tenacity, such ambition, such fight and such honor go into every shot… More »
Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic all defeated their third round opponents on Thursday (April 30) and have cruised their way into the ATP Rome Masters quarter-finals. In the match against Nadal, Soderling took the first set, but Nadal came back to win the match in… More »
Following in my recent pattern of covering websites that are resources or may interest travelers. The Chokti website provides another social network type site to get more people excited about travelling and sharing their stories with others when they get back home.
There’s an interesting bit of information to all of this that makes the Chokti website unique from it’s counterparts.
Most sites related to travel seem to focus too much on the process of travelling itself.
If you think about it, that’s… More »
Just a friendly reminder:
Tomorrow, I’ll be sending out the first issue of the One Prompt, One Product Newsletter. The premise of the newsletter is pretty simple – every issue will have one writing prompt and one recommended product for writers.
What makes it different from other writing prompts? Well, instead of being prompts that ask you to write about a childhood experience or your dream vacation, these prompts will be more non-fiction in nature and can actually be sold or used… More »
