Three items on my will-purchase-sometime-in-the-near-future-hopefully list right now include an Amazon Kindle, a new Logitech webcam and the 120GB Zune. Current 30GB Zune holders aren’t too happy right now as there appears to have been systematic failure of 30GB Zunes across the land recently. Microsoft appears to be aware of the problem, but no solutions are forth-coming yet from them. Customers using the Zune 30 might experience problems starting their players. We’re aware… More »

Before the 2008 season began, New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo said he wanted to be the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. His wish came true today as he won the award presented by the Associated Press. Jerod came to the Patriots as a first round Draft pick back in April and aside from his natural talent, he was fortunate to have good teaching, learning from veteran linebackers like Mike Vrabel and Tedy Bruschi…. Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year yesterday by the Associated Press. I think Falcons owner Arthur Blank had hoped for Matt to have a shot at the starting quarterback position this season when the team drafted him third overall back in April. But I’m sure he didn’t expect this kind of success this soon — not for Matt and not for the Falcons as a team as… More »

The opponents for all 2009 regular-season games have been determined and a complete list of each team’s home and away matchups was issued yesterday by the NFL. The scheduling formula implemented in 2002 with realignment guarantees that all teams play each other on a regular, rotating basis. Under the formula, every team within a division plays 16 games as follows:
Home and away against its three division opponents (6 games)
The four teams from another division within… More »

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has spoken out and said that he believes he can dominate world No.3 Novak Djokovic, if they meet at the inaugural Brisbane International tennis tournament next week. Since beating Tsonga at the Australian Open, Djokovic has been beaten 3 times by the 23 year old. Tsonga is the second seed behind Djokovic in Brisbane and he believes that if his serve is working, he can win the match. Regarding his serve, Tsonga said, “It is… More »
My nephew, who knows everything there is to know about "The X-Files," sent me an IESB.com link the other day about the possibility of a third "X-Files" movie. I can’t say I was all gung-ho about the second one, "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," but I’d definitely be onboard for a third movie. Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman seems interested, too. There’s been talk about a third movie that covers the 2012 mythology of "The X-Files" and… More »
Do you make resolutions or goals for the New Year? I do. Always have, probably always will. Tennis.com, the ESPN tennis blog, has rounded up their goals/resolutions for the top players in tennis. They gave me a good laugh. Here are just a few: Novak Djokovic: I’ll forget about all the talking I did about becoming No. 1 at the beginning of 2008 and get back to just winning matches and tournaments. The rest might take care of… More »
It appears that Andy Murray wants a little boost to his profile. He is currently ranked as number 4 and hopes to change that for this upcoming 2009 tennis season. Murray and his brother Jamie have signed up with CAA Sports and 19 Entertainment, who also handle David Beckham. The company is owned by “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller. The company will look after both their on and off court activities from March 1, 2009. "Jamie and… More »

Rumor has Bill Cowher turning down the Jets job, because Brett Favre is the quarterback. Apparently Coach Cowher is adverse to a risk taking quarterback at the helm.
“There’s no way he’s taking Brett Favre as his quarterback,” the insider said of Cowher.

They never even got around to talking money.

There’s a standing myth about telco networks. It’s the same with bandwidth and population density for Internet connection: the more congested the network is for the holidays (SMS greetings and the like), the worse the connection gets. Thus, results from holiday telco greetings (Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy New Year!) are evidently “problematic” to some extent when it hits Christmas or New Year’s eve.
Which is why a lot of people prefer to send their holiday greetings hours before midnight,… More »
