Wait, … What? Sears Has a Website?!
Sears.com was down for a period of time on Black Friday as all four of the nation’s online shoppers over 70-years-old attempted to access the site at the same time.
The company’s website, which is actually just six old ladies in polyester pantsuits reading emails, was overwhelmed by the influx of traffic on the year’s heaviest shopping day.
Webmaster Gertie Sheaffer exclaimed, “I just couldn’t keep up with all the traffic. At one… More »
On the 5th series of Sandra Gittlen, she talks about usability, compatibility and integration.
In an excerpt:
Businesses today rely on a wide range of disparate applications, and tying them all together is key to keeping employees productive. Many experts say IT executives are more likely to get that kind of enterprise integration and usability with Windows Vista than with a Mac.
“On corporate networks, which are predominately Windows-based, you have to be able to tap into Active Directory and Exchange ,” notes… More »
Bowling Green is adding themselves to the list of schools needing a football coach from 2009. On Saturday, AD Greg Christopher announced that Gregg Brandon was donzo after six years. His performance at Bowling Green was mediocre, but not horrible. In six years, he had a record of 44-30, and 31-17 in the MAC conference. This year, they finished the season 6-6, 4-4 against other MAC teams. They’ve been to three bowls over the past six years, and… More »
Advertisers Refuse But Offer to Fund Stem Cell Research Designed To Help Parents Grow New Set of Balls
The Boston-based Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood decided to get an early start on the holidays by writing letters to advertisers instead of Santa. The group says roughly 1,400 of its members and supporters have contacted leading toy companies to urge them to cut back on their ads in these tough economic times.
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to purchase many of… More »
In this 4th series, Sarah writes about cost. Need I say more?
In an excerpt:
One of the biggest barriers to refreshing your organization’s desktops is the hardware cost. However, experts say low prices on Windows Vista-based devices make them an attractive buy versus their Apple Mac counterparts.
Though Macs have a quality operating system and hardware, “Windows has such a variety of vendors offering various hardware configurations that you’re bound to find lower pricing with them,” says Al Gillen, research vice president… More »
Dexter Season 3, episode 10: “Go Your Own Way”
Air date: November 30, 2008 on Showtime
Miguel and Dexter’s relationship unravels even more on tonight’s episode, with Miguel blaming Dex for his troubles with Syl.

I started this month as the new damn PC guy and ended it by buying a Dell Inspiron Mini 9 in one of the Black Friday deals though I wish I had won a PC in a giveaway.
I had been opinionated about using push buttons and organizing program files, worried about the rising types of blog fraud and spam mail, conscious about the precautions to be taken in a cyber cafe and disposing e-waste responsibly, sad about the layoffs and the… More »
Over drinks yesterday, my friend shared an insight. Thanks to my hangover, I’ll have to paraphrase everything:
Him: “Would you know how well retailers did during Black Friday?”
Me: “Not yet, I think it’s too early to tell. I’m sure a report will come out soon.”
Him: “Well, all I’m saying is that if people don’t buy this year, even with the low prices, things must be really bad.”
Me: “From what I’ve seen, things look good. Did you read about that Wal-Mart temp… More »

Who would pay money to go out with ice skater Oksana Baiul?
Apparently, a rabbi would. And he would pay $2,500 for the honor.
Of course the money is to benefit the kids. Coincidentally enough, Oksana was celebrating her 31st birthday.
The rabbi said, “Well, I’m single, it’s for charity, and she seems like a nice Jewish girl. I guess I’m the luckiest guy in my congregation.” ~source

Even as a manly-man who’s never read the Twilight series, geeksugar’s feature on Bella’s upgraded geek set is worth the read. It asks “Should Book Technology be Updated for the Movie Version?”, a question that’s truly relevant to geeks, a wide-reaching demographic that ultimately, loves analyzing the most mundane of details.
Turns out that in the original book, vampire-loving lead Bella relied on a desktop computer to gain more information about Edward the pasty pretty boy—and she didn’t own a cellphone…. More »
When reviewing a project management software program, I look at different criteria to see if it meets the needs of the masses before meeting the needs of a single individual. The first project management software program to be reviewed is ClockingIT.
ClockingIT is a free project management software program that has many features which will appeal to the masses. They offer quick sign-up, easy start-up tutorial and their support desk is quick to respond. In testing the product, I found that… More »
Mages rock! I’ve been saying this ever since I started playing one in 2005 and stuck to it ever since. Some of you may agree and others may not. But whatever you might think about mages, I’m sure a lot of you will agree that the Wrath of the Lich King expansion gives mages some pretty special treatment. This treatment is the reason why I say that it’s a great expansion to be a mage.
I noticed a few things so… More »
Within every press conference is the famed guest list where members of the media RSVP to attend exclusive launches run the beat. Some events are pretty much lax when it comes to press exclusivity. A guy can walk in and say he’s from “Wheelbarrow Unlimited” for a tech product launch and the guy at the registration table will let him in. Others are more stringent, seeing that the event is not covered by your niche, and you weren’t invited -… More »
I didn’t really enjoy the HTC Touch Diamond. The Touch HD was more to my liking. But it seems that Canadians are really happy with it. Does this mean when they get to play around with the Touch HD, the experience will practically be orgasmic?
Oh wait. The video isn’t user generated. It’s PR material. Sry!… More »
Non-Paying Bidders Can Leave Negative Feedback on eBay
How can this possibly be fair? This situation happened to me a few weeks ago.
1) Customer purchases $85 item.
2) Customer does not pay.
3) Unpaid item dispute opened.
4) Customer still does not pay.
5) UPI closed. Final value fee granted. I can’t leave negative feedback – sellers are no longer able to.
6) Buyer leaves me negative feedback.
What is wrong with this picture? How can this happen? Here is eBay’s policy on non-payers and feedback:
“Enhanced protection for Unpaid Item: In addition… More »
