NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Commissioner Roger Goodell, seen here praying for steroid users, is strangely in favor of drug testing
There is a new rule in the NFL. No more drug testing.
What?
You heard me, no more drug testing. It is not necessary. We just have the player write a memoir and they confess. Much easier than all that urine sample stuff and much more accurate.

The Oakland Raiders fired head coach Lane Kiffin today. That makes two head coach firings in two days as St. Louis Rams head coach Scott Linehan was dismissed from his job yesterday. This marks the first time since at least 1970 that two head coaches have been fired before the fifth game of the season.
Coach Kiffin’s dismissal had been seriously rumored since the Raiders lost their season-opener to Denver. And unlike coach Linehan’s firing yesterday,… More »

The Pittsburgh Steelers got an important win against the Baltimore Ravens last night, but they lost two important players in the process. Starting right guard Kendall Simmons has a ruptured Achilles and running back (and first round Draft choice) Rashard Mendenhall fractured his left shoulder. Both will be placed on injured reserve according to head coach Mike Tomlin:
“We have some injuries that we need to deal with. That is part of football and we will… More »

To follow-up my September 2 post on the shooting of Jacksonville Jags offensive tackle Richard Collier, the news is not good. Richard is paralyzed from the waist down and he had his left leg amputated. Jags head coach Jack Del Rio reacted upon hearing the news yesterday:
“It’s a tragedy this young man was caught up in this violence. It’s a great tragedy for a young man who had such a promising future.”

ABC’s technicolor dramedy Pushing Daisies opens its second season tomorrow night at 8pm EST with the episode “Bzzzzzzzzz!,” a title that couldn’t stand for anything else but a bee.
In fact, during the premiere, Chuck gets to go undercover as something called a Bee Girl in order to investigate the murder of a cosmetics spokesmodel who was stung to death. Ouch! There’s a reason why bees are my least favorite bugs after roaches, wasps, and millipedes, in that order… More »
As much as everyone wanted Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers to be the feel good story of the year, but my vote goes to Fernando Tatis of the New York Mets. Until Tatis got hurt near the end of the season, I thought he had a great chance at Comeback Player of the Year in the National League. However, Tatis finished fifth in the voting as Philadelphia Phillies closer Brad Lidge took the honors.
But it was a… More »
Our Olympic pair did pretty well last night on the second week of “Dancing with the Stars.” Misty May-Treanor with her dance partner Maksim did a very respectable and dramatic paso doble, all dressed in black leather. You can watch their routine below:The other Olympian competing on the show, Maurice Greene was a little less polished, but he should be safe through at least this week’s elimination. Greene and his dance partner, Cheryl Burke danced the rumba. He was a… More »

Tracy McGrady and Joe Smith playing the little known sport of basketball wrestling
Are the Rockets the most screwed up team in basketball or destined to win the championship?
Huh?
Yeah, you heard me, are they screwed up or going to be winners? Or maybe is it winners or whiners?
And now we get the news that T-Mac is hurt again, both the shoulder and the knee.
