Hollywood Park race recap (May 30-31); Smooth Air in Ohio Derby romp
Hollywood Park Friday night (5-30-08)
Race 1: Sir Chimi broke a bit slow from the rail and was used more than expected to get the lead. He weakened (4th) in the lane from his early efforts and could go better stalking with a better post next out. Canani dropper Celtic Sword was along in time. Bewitching Bartok had the right post/trip, but he could only manage 3rd for a good layoff barn…still hasn’t won since July ’06.

More Mario videos: Peach is a cheat?
I’m really amazed at the amount of fan-made videos on one of video gamedom’s most loved characters. Yes, I’m talking about Mario (“It’s always about Mario,” quipped Luigi in the last video we featured), and this time around, it seems our jumper-clad plumber is the victim.

Devils Sign Finnish Player Anssi Selmela
The New Jersey Devils have offered Finnish defenceman Anssi Salmela a deal. While the details are not yet known, it does sound like a good deal since the 23-year-old free-agent had 16 goals and 16 assists in 56 games with Tappara of the Finnish League last season. Jeremy Shockey Injury Update – Fantasy Football Impact
Jeremy Shockey broke his left leg last year during the regular season. As you might have heard, the New York Giants wound up winning the Super Bowl without Shockey’s services.

Using Twitter to Search and Sift
It’s such a simple service, but the usefulness of Twitter confounds many observers and participants. It’s easy to mock Twitter for the trivial content that gets posted by different people. Florida Panthers Sign Michael Frolick
This is great for the Florida Panthers. It’s being reported that they have signed 20-year-old, Michael Frolick, who is considered one of their top prospects. He was a first-round draft pick back (10th overall) in 2006 and has had 24 goals and 65 points in 45 games this past season with Rimouski of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Manu Ginobili to Play in Olympics for Argentina
Despite being slowed in the playoffs due to an ankle injury, Manu Ginobili should be ready to go for the Olympics this summer. Ginobili will again lead Argentina as that South American country goes for its second consecutive gold medal.
Ginobili’s play suffered more and more as the playoffs went along. Against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, Ginobili become a non-factor outside of his Game 3 30-point explosion.
